How To Receive The Baptism of The Holy Spirit

heaven clouds

This message is for those without a Spirit-Filled church home to attend, where they can experience the presence of The living God and the Baptism of the Holy Ghost as the disciples of Christ experienced on the day of Pentecost in the book of Acts 2:4. Rest assured that God will certainly meet you wherever you are.

This article is written to encourage you to receive the promise of God for your life.

Television Evangelists are famous for asking viewers to recite, what is called, “the sinner’s prayer;” Convincing them that they have the Spirit of Christ in their life after such a confession alone. But nowhere in the Bible has anyone ever received the Holy Spirit of Christ due to a confession of faith.

The disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ communed with Christ face to face; they believed in Him, and yet none had the Spirit of Christ until they received the Gift of the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost.

Even Peter, when preaching to the crowd which questioned the Pentecostal Experience, he powerfully declared to them,

“Repent and be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the Promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call”–Acts 2:38-39.

Notice how there was no indication that the Spirit of Christ was immediately upon you after such confession. Instead, there was a future expectation. The notion of having the Spirit of Christ in you immediately after reciting the Televangelist’s sinner’s prayer comes from the misinterpretation of Romans 10:9 which states, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Acts 8:14-17 clearly shows that you can confess Christ Jesus and still, not have the Holy Spirit. And Paul never implied that one is filled with the Spirit of Christ immediately after such a confession, but that one will be saved. The emphasis should be on believing in your heart. For if you believe in your heart, then you would, willingly, surrender your total trust to Him, and He will gladly send you the Comforter (John 14:26), which is the Holy Ghost and will fill you, in like manner, as he did the Apostles on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:4.

That’s a significant difference. There is a process. Confession of faith, and being filled with the Spirit of Christ are two different points.

Some churches teach that you can’t be saved without being filled with the Holy Spirit. Other churches concluded that the word “saved,” in Romans 10:9, means having the Spirit of Christ. But as you can see, the Bible doesn’t infer the scripture in that light. The Word of God has been twisted, in many ways, to fit a seemingly effortless method for getting to heaven, and people are constantly being cheated out of a truly intimate relationship with the Almighty God.

Some believers have concluded that the Infilling of the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, is merely a gift, not given to all. They come to this conclusion by the misunderstanding of 1 Corinthians 12:10,28,30. These scriptures talk about the gift of tongues, given to some for Ministry as with the gift of interpretation.

The gift of the Holy Ghost, which comes with speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance, is not the same as the ministry of the gift of tongues. Everyone who experiences the Baptism of the Holy Ghost speaks in a spiritual language. The promise is to all as recorded in Acts 2:39.

Certain Christians believe God gives His Spirit through faith without the baptism of the Holy Ghost, denying what is written in the book of Acts 2:4. However, this is double talk! How can one have the Spirit of God through faith while suggesting there’s no need for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit? If one has the Spirit of God by faith, but acknowledges the fact of not being filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit, how do they have the Spirit of God at all?

Let’s be clear. If we neglect the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, we neglect the Lord Jesus Christ and the Almighty God, for He is ONE!

All Christians and all who read this article; Be encouraged in knowing that the infilling of the Holy Spirit of God exceeds the joy of making it to heaven. Why would a husband desire to build a mansion for a wife who rejects the ring he has paid so highly for? Likewise, why would God beautify heaven for a wife (the church) who rejects the Baptism of His Holy Spirit?

“How Do I Receive the Infilling of the Holy Ghost?”

When your heart is ready, all you have to do is ask, and God will fill you with His Anointed Power in that very moment. However, for most of us, it takes time due to our environment, our source of knowledge, and the negativity and noisiness of social media which affects our emotions, our mindset, and our attitude; however, there are some steps you can take in preparing your heart for the infilling of the Holy Spirit.

You can receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit at any time during these steps, but applying all these steps will guarantee a joyful experience with God. It’s important to, first know what you are asking for. You are asking and expecting the Baptism of the Holy Spirit of Christ. It’s the Presence of the Almighty God.

Note:

The Holy Ghost doesn’t come in silence. Be prepared to praise God without restriction. God will not have you acting like a fool and running into walls. So don’t be afraid to surrender to His Anointed Spirit. When He comes and fills you with the Holy Ghost, you will love every minute of it. The fear of God will dominate your soul, and you will know without a shadow of a doubt who God is.

NOTE: This is Not a formula. These are helpful measures in preparing your heart. It has worked for thousands of others. ❤️

1)–Repent of all your sins (Acts 2:38), confessing Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior; believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9-13). Repentance means turning away from sin with a sincere heart.

Note:

Repentance doesn’t mean you have the power to stop sinning, but you are sincerely turning away from living in sin and, therefore, willing to commit your life to the Lord Jesus Christ.

2)–Be Baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Note:

Baptism is an immersion into the water, not a sprinkle on the head; it is a public unashamed symbolic act of dying with Christ and being raised in the newness of life.

3)–Take ten days to clear your mind through fasting and prayer (Mark 2:20) (Matthew 17:22) (Romans 12:2). Turn off social media, unless you’re running a business and need to check the status of your products. Personal social media should be shut off during this time. Keep the Television off. Detox your body by giving up meats and sweets.  Drink plenty of water. You will be surprised at how certain foods and TV shows block your ability to flow in the spirit, negatively affecting your emotions and debilitating your focus.

Note:

You can’t purchase or win the Holy Ghost by deeds. This step is suggested strictly for eliminating distractions.

4)–Give God praise and thanksgiving for the abundance of all things happening in your life, whether good or bad (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Create an atmosphere of praise until the Anointing of God fills you from head to toe.

Note:

If something happened to you that is too horrible to give God thanks for, then Praise Him for giving you the ability to survive the offenses of your enemies.

5)–Forgive all who have done you wrong (Matthew 6:14-15). If this seems hard, present it to God, even if you have to do it with tears, asking Him to help. Remember, He forgave and cleansed you of your sins. He will fill you with power and joy that supersedes the offense of your enemies. Call out each offender’s name before God and forgive them. Let God know that you forgive them.

Note:

Your offenders do not get away with any crime. No one gets away with the crimes they’ve committed. You may not get the opportunity to see their judgment, but if we don’t forgive, you allow their offense to take dominion over your life, causing you to damage the lives of those around you.

6)–After you’ve applied these steps, let God know that you’re ready to be filled with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Pick a place where you feel free, and say unto the Lord, with all the sincerity of your heart and complete expectancy, “Lord Jesus fill me with your Holy Spirit right now, I accept your Holy Spirit right now.” And then begin to praise and thank Him for filling you with His Holy Spirit until you are filled from head to toe! Amen!

  1. I wish it were that simple. I have been saved and have been seeking the Holy Ghost baptism for 33 years. As for your recommendations, I’ve done all of that, much of it repeatedly. I firmly believe and know that there is a baptism. Yet I have longed in vain, I have never received the classic Holy Ghost baptism. Unlike another responder, I do indeed sense that the Lord has done a considerable work in me over the years, much of the difficulty I used to have with sin He has helped me to overcome. I love the Lord Jesus. He actually told me once, about three years ago that He loved me (personally, not just in the Word). WoW! But the baptism and with a prayer language to use for my edification – NO. I am very saddened by this and I don’t have an answer. Pray for me PLEASE.

  2. William,
God will give you the baptism of the Holy Ghost when it’s time.
When I received the baptism I was not seeking for it ( because I’d never heard of it) It happened and at the time of Gods choice.
So take heart son. Your Father in heaven knows exactly the moment he will fill you with His Spirit.
And remember this. God is working in your life. He works in our life and helps and guides us through the events in our lives ( even the bad things) even before we receive the baptism of the Spirit .
The gift of tongues and the gift of the Holy Ghost are two different things. I do not have the gift of tongues but I did speak in tongues when I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, which is the evidence of having received it.
It will happen at the perfect time, meanwhile just look to him and believe on His name.
    His name is Yahoshua.
I was baptized in water in His Name many years after I had received the baptism of the Spirit. He works differently with everyone. He has it all mapped out. Our entire journey, start to finish.
He will surely teach and help you all the way.
You will be in my prayers.

  3. praise the LORD GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST IT IS THE WAY THE TRUTH AND LIFE repent and be baptise everyone on the name of the most high GOD

  4. Why can’t I get the holey spirit. I try with all heart on my knees. Could I be such a diner that God does not hear me?

  5. I like your article I stumbled across it somehow lol

    I am from the UK

There are a million teachings out there on the Holy Spirit

If your teaching is true – then most Baptist’s are lost

So is billy graham Francis chan and John piper

All great teachers but never spoke in tongues

    So who’s right ?

    I say both

You are born of the Soirit John 3v3

You are Filled or baptised in the Spirit at Pentecost Acts 2v4

To say the secondary experience is greater than salvation is a bit much

Good article though – it’s good to get all that God has for us ..

    Bless you
    Jimmy

  6. I am still seeking this holy spirit baptism. Pray for me.
I try to stop sinning but it is hard to keep away from sin without the holy spirit. Fighting against sin is a burden and hard without the holy spirit and I dont feel any joy. I dont want to sin against God. I want to experience him. I have been a believer for a long time but I still have not grown much. I know God can change me in an instant. My hope is in the Lord Jesus.

  7. I got the holy ghost at home praying for a friend’s family when their son died. I felt tingling from my head and slowlyy came down over all of me. I kept praying but l knew what was happening n my toung felt like it twisted all around my mouth n l fell down n felt beautiful with no fear, and eas still praying in the holy ghost. It is wonder ful.

  8. I was taught that I didn’t need the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues. I was taught that I only need to confess Christ Jesus as my Lord and Savior to be saved. I had gotten tired of Pentecostal folks asking if I had spoken in tongues. I had all the scriptures to prove my case. But one day I went to GOD and asked Him to fill me with the Holy Ghost. I wasn’t asking in order to be saved, because I already thought I was saved. I just wanted the experience so that I could go into a Pentecostal church and let them know that, “Yes!” I spoke in tongues and there is no need for anyone to have to do so. But to my astonishing surprise, when the Lord God Almighty filled me with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in tongues through me, a mighty fear of God and a powerful joy electrified me as my stomach turned as if rivers of joy was flooding my soul. Later, I had become exceedingly disappointed at those who told me that I didn’t need to be filled with the Holy Ghost as if I had everything I needed. But they were wrong. There is more to God than just a confession. I love this Post and I hope someone is inspired to seek more of God and be filled with the Holy Ghost(HOLY SPIRIT) of the Almighty!

  9. My apologies as I see my comment reposted. I seek only to please my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  10. I HAVE RECEIVED THE HOLY SPIRIT AT A PRAYER MEETING IN CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP. THE MINISTER PRAYED OVER ME LAID HANDS ON ME AND I STARTED SPEAKING IN OTHER TOUNGS , I PRAISED JESUS THE REST OF THE NIGHT IN A LANGWHIGE I NEVER KNEW BEFORE, NOR DID I UNDERSTAND IT, I JUST FELT THE PRESENCE OF GOD
THIS HAPPENED THREE YEARS AFTER I WAS SAVED
THE ONLY THING I ASKED GOD FOR IS THAT IS THIS IS NOT OF YOU
    I WILL NOT RECEIVE IT
AS IS WANT MY LIFE TO GLORIFY CHRIST
THE LORD IMPRESSED ON MY MIND THAT I WAS GOING TO BE A TEACHER
OF HIS WORD, AND THAT DID COME TO PASS
I HAVE BEEN TEACHING IN DEPTH BIBLE STUDIES FOR ABOUT 40 YEARS NOW, THANKS TO THE HOLY SPIRITS LEADING
AS WITH PAUL ‘”FOR ME TO LIVE IS CHRIST AND TO DIE IS GAIN, BUT I AM CAUGHT BETWEEN TWO”
I WOULD LOVE TO BE WITH OUR LORD,BUT I ALSO LOVE BRINGING OTHERS TO AN INDEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF ALL THEY HAVE AND ARE IN CHRIST
I AM STILL HUMAN AND HAVE MY FAULTS AND FAILINGS, AND I REPENT ANYTIME I AM OUT OF GODS WILL, EVEN THOUGH I KNOW HE HAS FORGIVEN ME OF ALL MY SINS, PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE
BECAUSE I AM SEALED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
AND GOD IS LOOKING UPON MY HEART

YOUR BROTHER IN HIM WHO WAS, WHO IS, AND WHO EVER SHALL BE
    LOVE
    WALTER G FIKE JR
